Local fire departments assist paramedics

Patients are growing heavier and so paramedics are lifting more than they did 40 years ago. Ontario paramedics are now required to lift a 220-pound patient on
an 85-pound stretcher with another paramedic as a condition of employment.

Paramedics will continue to need the help of the local fire departments when four hands are not enough.
