Position:  J1217-0166 Manager Reprocessing / Surgery Program - FT - Multi-site BG home

Region:  Lennox & Addington, Hastings, Prince Edward

Description:  Required:

  • Current registration and member in good standing with a recognized health related regulatory body in Ontario 
  • Knowledge of the functionality and use of surgical medical devices and instruments 
  • Three (3) years of progressive and recent professional leadership/management 
  • Baccalaureate Degree in a related Health, Science or Technology field, completed or in process 
  • Must have or be able to acquire within a reasonable time frame a thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and regulations applicable to the areas of supervision 
  • Must have an understanding of the procedures and standards governing the work performed in medical device reprocessing, including CSA standards. 
  • Must have excellent leadership, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and judgment and report-writing skills 
  • Successful completion of a recognized sterile processing instrumentation technician program, inclusive of successful completion of CSAO/ MDRAO exam with ongoing five (5) year renewal maintenance, required within a reasonable timeframe (1 year) 
  • Demonstrated ability to support staff in accomplishment of service goals and objectives, continuous improvements and to provide leadership and project management for the improvement of operations and processes. 


  • Three (3) years management experience preferred in a medical device reprocessing department or equivalent related field including financial monitoring and control and quality control. 
  • Certification in a specialized field related to perioperative care 
  • Operating Room experience preferred 
  • Experience in supply management and staffing methodology an asset 


  • Organizes, controls, and manages medical device reprocessing functions for Quinte Healthcare, including the efficient utilization and management of human, material, and monetary resources employed in these operations 
  • Provides leadership through the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of systems to achieve corporate and regional objectives and provides feedback to the Surgical Program Director 
  • Implements and monitors quality and risk management processes and systems 
  • Assumes a leadership role in developing, implementing, and monitoring service goals and is accountable for delivery of quality services 
  • Ensures that the daily work performed within the Medical Device Reprocessing Departments is of high standard and is conducted in a manner consistent with provincial workplace health and safety, as well as CSA standards and infection control guidelines. 
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with all departments utilizing reprocessing goods and in particular with the Perioperative Service 
  • Assumes accountability for performance metrics 
  • Provides coverage for other perioperative managers in their respective clinical areas
