Brockville General Hospital is a fully accredited, multi-site midsize community hospital serving a regional catchment area of up to 99,000. We deliver Acute Care including Emergency, Intensive Care, Medical/Surgical and Maternal Child care, as well as Complex Continuing Care, Rehabilitation, Palliative Care and Acute Mental Health service. In addition, BGH provides various ambulatory clinics and community programs.

Brockville General Hospital is presently recruiting for the following position:


Position:  Temporary Full Time Infant & Chld Development Therapist

Region:  Leeds & Grenville

Description:  The Infant and Child Development Therapist provides assessment, intervention and consultation services to special needs or at risk children and their parents/caregivers throughout the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. 

 
The ICDP therapist participates in discipline-specific and interdisciplinary activities that are directed towards modeling and promoting a safe and healthy family-centered environment. The therapist will contribute to operational efficiency, professional and program development.

REQUIREMENTS: 

Education/Specific Training Requirements: 

• Post-secondary degree in the health or child services fields such as Child and Family Studies, Pediatric Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy, Child Development, Infant Mental Health. Focused specialty training or experience in infant and preschool development, teaching strategies and family support is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate and interact effectively and positively with program staff, community agencies, and health care professionals.
• Knowledge of applicable legislation, guidelines and best practice procedures for Infant/Child development services for children at risk or with special needs is preferred.

Additional Requirements:
• Demonstrated, practical experience working with infants and preschoolers who have developmental delays and their families and other professionals
• Experience with early intervention strategies to promote optimal development in infants and preschoolers with a variety of challenges
• Criminal reference check & relevant references
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout Leeds and Grenville (provide a valid Class “G Drivers licence and proof of vehicle insurance)
• Good attendance and availability required

Salary:  as per OPSEU Collective Agreement

Terms of Employment:  Temporary Full-Time
