Brockville General Hospital is a fully accredited, multi-site midsize community hospital serving a regional catchment area of up to 99,000. We deliver Acute Care including Emergency, Intensive Care, Medical/Surgical and Maternal Child care, as well as Complex Continuing Care, Rehabilitation, Palliative Care and Acute Mental Health service. In addition, BGH provides various ambulatory clinics and community programs.

Position:  Manager - In Patient Mental Health

Region:  Leeds & Grenville

Description:  POSITION SUMMARY
This full-time position would be a great leadership opportunity for a self-directed, highly motivated and results-oriented clinical leader who is innovative and creative and is committed to a collaborative management style. In alignment with our Mission and Values, we are looking for a leader who excels in engaging people, promoting quality and safety, building successful teams, planning and decision-making. Reporting to the Director, Mental Health and Community Programs, you will be responsible for the operational management of the mental health inpatient services, with accountability for day-to-day operations, patient flow, people management, fiscal stewardship, risk management and safety, the provision of high-quality care and, ultimately, an ideal individual experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
Baccalaureate degree required, Master of Business Administration or Healthcare Administration preferred
Proven success in a leadership capacity in comparable, complex organizations
Demonstrated experience in business management, planning, budgets and finance
Demonstrated experience in the various components of human resource management
3 to 5 years management experience preferred
Current Class G Driver’s license in good standing

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the health care system including applicable provincial legislation and related regulations
Demonstrated ability to foster both a patient centered culture and patient safety culture
Superior ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
Superior ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences from patient and family partners, healthcare practitioners and leaders, special interest groups
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with members of the leadership team, physicians and inter-professional team, subordinates, colleagues, and the general public
Ability to identify, understand, and meet/exceed the requirements of internal and external customers
Ability to think and act strategically in a health care environment, including the ability to conceptualize and implement change strategies
Excellent project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Proven acumen in business and financial management, with the ability to improve effectiveness and efficiency through the management and utilization of human, financial, and physical resources
Demonstrated skills and experience in strategic planning, quality improvement, analysis and utilization of data to drive continuous quality improvement
Strong leadership skills, including the ability to direct, motivate, evaluate, and recognize staff; proven ability to share skills and knowledge with others
Proven conflict management abilities and mediation skills
Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
Must undergo successfully police records check, vulnerable sector check
Good attendance and availability required and ability to do admin-on-call
